Political Prisoner Birthday Poster For December 2012 Is Now Available

From Prison Books

Hello Friends and Comrades,

Here is the political prisoner birthday poster for December. As always, please post this poster publicly and/or use it to start a card writing night of your own. We’re still experimenting with the format a little, so this month is also a double sided 11×17 that can also be used as a poster to promote your local letter writing night.

For the holidays this year we wrote each of you a very special letter. Please take an extra couple of minutes out of your day and read it. For the past seven years our group has been a lifeline for thousands upon thousands of people in prison who otherwise are completely disconnected from any support base whatsoever. We need your help to keep this project going.

Do you have your New Year’s noise demo planned yet? Because it’s that time of year again! Here’s the call out for this year’s global noise demo on New Year’s Eve. Their will be noise demonstrations outside prisons, jails, and detention centers around the world. Make sure not to miss out!

We’re excited to announce the new blog Amplify Voices Inside. The blog is put out by a group of concerned individuals from Durham. The blog seeks to amplify the voices of Durham’s incarcerated population and their loved ones. The blog was started as a response to a letter sent by inmates inside the Durham County Jail protesting their conditions.

Anarchist prisoner Sean Swain is being moved to super max status for allegedly organizing a sabotage and disruption spree through a group called the Army of the Twelve Monkeys. Please check his support website for more that you can do to help out.

Eco-Saboteur Daniel McGowan is coming home this month after seven years in prison! His support team is asking for your help in making Daniel’s transition a smooth one. He will need to purchase everything from groceries to a new computer to clothes that fit him. Donations can be made here.

Just as Daniel McGowan prepares for release from prison, another of the FBI’s “Operation Backfire” targets has surrendered. Rebecca Rubin is alleged to have been part of five major arsons by the Earth Liberation Front . More information on her surrender and impending trial can be found here. To write Rebecca, her address as of 12/8/12 is:
Rebecca Rubin #98290-011
FDC SEATAC
P.O. BOX 13900
SEATTLE, WA 98198

The North Carolina Latin Kings trial is over. Four out of the seven defendants that went to trial were either acquitted or had their charges dismissed. The remaining three were found guilty of racketeering but have not been sentenced yet. This week a motion was filed calling for a new trial. Please write the three convicted kings a note of support. You can find their addresses here.

Prison activist Viki Law recently did a radio interview with The Final Straw. The show discusses the second edition of her book, “Resistance Behind Bars: The Struggles of Incarcerated Women.” She also speaks on patriarchy, criminalization & invisibility that is faced by those held in women’s prisons.

Lastly, here is a link to the latest Political Prisoner/Prisoner Of War every-other week update by the NYC-Anarchist Black Cross. There are lots of good updates on many political prisoners.
